Anime Taking America by Storm!!

Animation in America once meant Mickey Mouse, Snow White and Winnie the Pooh. These days, it's just as likely to mean Japanese fighting cyborgs, doe-eyed schoolgirls and sinister monsters — thanks in large part to people like John Ledford.

I thought this had already been established.

its the mainstream media and a slow news week apparently. kids to grandaparents know anime is big here, just ask yu-gi-oh or poke'mon. sheesh!

on another note, apparently the metric system is making big news too...

Bush Healthy But Laments 'Too Many Doughnuts'
story by reuters (this is important!)
bad reporter wrote:The nearly 6-foot (3-meter) Bush weighed 194 pounds at his last physical in August 2003. His weight at the time was technically on the border of being overweight but doctors attributed it to extra muscle mass put on by weightlifting.

since when do we guess about a person's height..and since when is 6 feet 3 meters??? new math, anyone?

I think the article is wrong, at one point anime almost went mainstream in America with things like Cowboy Bebop. But now most people equate anime with Dragon Ball Z. Which makes it as lame as any Saturday Morning cartoon.

One thing has to happen. Either a Japanese publishing firm must put their foot down and not allow English overdubs or an American Television Network will start showing subs.

One Piece with subs is great, one piece dubbed is just painful. Sanji and Zorro's voice are half the show, that aged Japanese male sound who does the Japanese voice-over, Smoker, etc.

I admit Luffy's voice is stupid to me, but it allows his character opportunities to use his "fighting" voice to great effect.
