Ryokan suggestions?

Postby GomiGirl » Mon Dec 31, 2007 1:41 pm

I know we are leaving it kinda late but my folks are in town and they wanted to go to an onsen/ryokan etc about 1-2 hours out of Tokyo for the night of the 2nd.

Am not having any joy from the on-line sites so am hoping somebody can suggest something.

Anybody - please???

You can try phoning Takaragawa Onsen and see if they are available. Officially, they are full until the 6th but they might have a cancellation.

Sadly booked up that night. I have stayed in that one before and it was great. The bear miso soup was a bit too strong for me but otherwise it was lovely food.

Have managed to get a booking at Matsumoto in Asama Onsen near the Monkey onsen - how apt for my family to visit. It is either that or Sendai for Matsushima but am thinking that Matsushima may be a tad bleak this time of year.

Wish me luck.

If that don't work out, I know a few spots in the back of Shibuya eki that you could use. You might have to wait a few minutes for a room to open up, but they should let you in!

Thanks for taking the time to post the link and the map, Take. Seems like a good suggestion. I will look into it for next time.
