Electric assisted bicycle batteries

Just acquired an electric assisted bike from a friend. The battery is supposed to be fairly new but it isn't giving me any love right now.

It says it is fully charged but then when it is on the bike the battery monitor says that it is empty. I took it to the bike shop guy and he but some electrode thingies on it and said that it wasn't conducting a charge.

It has been sitting idle for about 6 months uncharged.

So my question is:
Is it possible to condition the battery somehow. Kinda like how we used to do for mobile phones in the old days...

What does the "Refresh" thing on the battery charger do?

Or am I up for a new battery at \25,000 a pop? ggrrrr

Any idea aboot the technology of the battery ? i suppose you don't have a voltmeter ?

Usually if there is a refresh button that means Nimh batteries... go full discharge then recharge.

I'v read aboot high voltage shock to break some oxydation inside the cells...

But.... you'd better kiss 25000 good bye...

I have a bike just like that for trucking the kids around...

We got ours from a hole in the wall place that did repairs and sales for new/old/motor/electric bikes and the guys that run it know their stuff...

they said to never keep the electric gearing on the max level and to only use it IF you need it cause the battery is a POS and you will have to buy a new one when it takes a dump.

So yes, plan on forking out money and the price you said is actually cheap... might be an older model... the battery that I have costs 35,000 a pop and my friend with a newer model costs 43,000...

I was able to refresh the battery and now it is charged and talking to the bike controls. It worked on the way home - YAY. Lets see how long it holds the charge.

NiMh never hold long... That what created the market for eneloop...

Those in mah RC things can't keep charge more than a wee...
