Ordering from amazon.com

Postby yanpa » Sat Jan 11, 2014 12:31 am

Stoopid question - I just came across a book I need which is not available from Amazon Japan, but is available on amazon.com. Presumably they will ship/plane stuff to Japan - is there anything I should watch out for?

I have bought countless books (and other things) from Amazon.de and Amazon.com over the years. I my experience, it seems to be cheaper (shipping-cost) to buy a bunch of books once or twice a year than to order one or two books at a time.

Never had customs' or any other costly issues. Maybe I was just lucky.

Same here, aside from shipping cost.... .com or .jp... It's all good...

Check http://www.thebookdepository.com/ though... Sometimes cheaper...

I like abebooks.com

Amazon has a box on the left to check - Amazon Global Eligible or something like that. Check it and basically everything that is displayed can be sent overseas.

Sure but be prepared for high transport costs.

I like Book Depository but it is weird when you make a big order with multiple items and they are sent individually. Sure it is all free but it seems such a waste of packaging.

Transport fees for amazon global are usually... Sustainable...
40 USD for 15 books last time for me... If you consider the total weight... It was ok...

As for the bookdepository, they usually wrap in soft corrugated cardboard envelopes, not like a mazon who have a minimum box size of around 30 by 40 even if you just order a can opener... Maybe they stay below a parcel weight limit for transport fee pricing matters...
