I saw this robo-valet on NHK last night and I was very impressed except that it's...fuckquing expensive.

Dressing aids already have 50 years of experience with a wide variety existing adaptive equipment for the handicapped such as quadriplegics. Most are inexpensive simple devices added to clothing can make dressing easier for a disabled persons. Some examples include zipper pulls and d-rings, which eliminate the need to grasp smaller fasteners: the person can operate them by hooking their thumbs through the loops. Additionally, loops onto underwear and pants to make pulling them on easier. Other equipment that makes dressing easier include a grabber with a long handle and a sock puller.

Generally, when a disabled or elderly person cannot use these simple aids for dressing, they really need a "in-home help"---a person to be helping them---and not a robot for dressing because of a multitude of other issues facing them, both physical and personal.
