Very clever--Now if you ever get arrested the press will report, "alien Wuchan, age 29 and unemployed..."

When you refused to enter your employer on the card and visa, you made yourself "unemployed", which in the eyes of Japanese public and the courts is less than human.

It looks like a big improvement over the current system to me.

Now if we could just get rid of the fingerprints at the airport...

Under the rules that were in effect the last time I got my gaijin card renewed (2009), PR holders didn't need to list their employer or passport information on their gaijin cards. Mine has neither, I'm sure many other people are the same.

(I had to tell this to the ward office when I went in for renewal. I can't remember if they looked it up or if they made some phone calls, but the result is that my gaijin card says nothing at all about employer and where the passport information would go there are just a bunch of asterisks.)

Same here, nothing to indicate employment.
But they made a few errors, according to the card I'm now from "ENGLANDO,
GREAT BRITA"
And my date of landing has been brought forward from 1961 to 1981???

I'm pretty sure that a re-run of Soylent Green on tv would make a lot of peeps in here quite uncomfortable...

You've got that right, Rasta.
But I'm probably not as old as Greji!
He was guest of honour at Methuselah's bar mitzvah!
