Rain has set in here in the west of the Eastern Capital and looks like it's here to stay for a while. No noticeable wind yet.

Some catastrophe warning on the keitai and some speaker cars going around telling stories. Otherwise business as usual.

Might take some gomi outside that I otherwise would have to buy expensive stickers for. Who knows, maybe by tomorrow it'll be gone with the wind...

I have removed the washing pole from the balcony less it be whipped off and impale a cabbage in the neighbouring food.

Rain has subsided to drizzle, continuing absence of wind.

Heavy rain just starting up here, but not much wind yet.

All gone quiet again here now after some pretty proper rain and wind. Very patchy thing these typhoons. We seem to be directly in its path and it's due to be directly overhead in another 3 hours so we will see, but so far nothing really nasty.

A couple of impressive moments on the TV:

People at Nagoya station looking very annoyed and fed up because the train services have been suspended. Some things in life are unpredictable but this storm has been in the works for a good week. If you choose to try and travel during the time it is with us, are you really surprised you can't?

Footage of a big express way junction near here showing a large number of cars happily driving through the storm. It may not be safe to run those weedy, accident prone trains but driving your own car is surely fine.

It's just a wee tropical storm since being downgraded Sunday.

Rain stopped and wind weakened significantly.

Looks like it dies out peacefully.

Rain picking up. Frequent sightings of behelmeted damp TV reporters.

Blue sky!

But damn, we got lashed and pounded during the night. More water and wind all in one place than I've seen in a long time.

But it's over, with just a bit of wind remaining. A cursory glance out the window(s) shows no damage. Later on I'll pluck up the ol' courage and actually go outside! How's that for adventurous.

I am outdoing you on that.

I already went outside this morning in my pajamas under a blue sky.
