You are still producing fallout from your previous work on the Manhattan Project.

Still far lower that March. I wonder what the readings looked like farther north.

Thyroid nodules are quite common, and only a few are cancerous or pre-cancerous.
* One in 12 to 15 you women has a thyroid nodule.
* One in 40 young men has a thyroid nodule.
* More than 95% of all thyroid nodules are benign (non-cancerous growths).

And there's plenty more if you look around.

Still, 30+% is much more than the norm...
Yokohammer wrote:Sorry 'bout that. It's just the way I am. If North Korea decides to drop a nuke in my neighborhood I'll want to examine it in detail before concluding that I'm dead.
It could be a real issue in the future, but it's still too early. Notable thyroid abnormalities in the Chernobyl kids only began to appear about 4 years after the accident. That doesn't mean it'll be the same here, but I do think it's really important not to jump the gun.
Greji wrote:...both sides advised that the Japanese, especially those living in costal communities, tended to have a much higher than normal incidence of thyroid problems. This was reportedly caused by the consumption of large amounts of seafood products with higher iodine content, such as seaweed and the like. I don't recall any of the figures, so I couldn't say just how much higher 30% is than the norm for such areas.
