A lesson to all FG: the J-resume hole

Postby Taro Toporific » Tue Feb 04, 2003 1:59 pm

Here's a lesson to all FG out there; If you're wild success in Japan. it doesn't mean you can get a job back home. Poor ex-Japan coach Troussier stated he really, "wanted to return to France", but he could only find work in Morocco. Beware of the dread Japan "resume hole."

SOCCER aka football: Troussier reportedly to coach Morocco
Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 09:30 JST / Kyodo
ROME -- Former Japan national coach Philippe Troussier has basically agreed to become the manager of the Moroccan national team, according to news reports from Morocco. The two sides have reportedly have concluded preliminary negotiations in Paris, and Troussier is scheduled to travel to Morocco this week to nail down details of his contract.

Troussier, who led Japan to the second round of the 2002 World Cup finals in Japan and South Korea, reportedly is expected to serve as coach for the Moroccan national team as well as Morocco's Olympic and youth teams. (Kyodo News)

I second that. Japan is a resume hole. Nobody knows what to do with you after you leave.

Ditto for Japanese returnees

And I've heard the same phrase from Japanese returnees*: "Nobody knows what to do with you after you come back."
*Returnees meaning: 'born in Japan, left for a while generally during the highschool or college years and then got sucked back in the bowels of Japan.
