Christmas for Mac Heads: New Towers?

Postby mr. sparkle » Mon Aug 07, 2006 2:53 pm

Less than 10 hours away from the "Steve-Note" at WWDC here in SF. Any last minute predictions?

New Mac Pro Towers?
New iPod Nanos?
Speed Bumps to the Mac Book Pro?
Xserve RAID on Intel?
iTunes Movie Store?

I'm betting on Towers and Xserve RAID. Rumor mongers are going light:

All the exhibits are draped at Moscone, so you can't see what they will announce. Wonder what that "....oh, and I more thing" will be.

I'm like a nervous kid on Xmas Eve.

I'd bet something on the Nano front...The apple store website had recently dropped the price on refurbed nanos pretty hard ($129 2GB, $169 4GB) which might signal a $50 price drop in the current prices with a new higher capacity nano at the $250 level.
The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

New towers: dual dual-core up to Dual 3 gHz. PHAT graphics card capability.
Big price drop on the 30" display
New Xserves on Intel NOT Xserve RAIDs though. The Xserves are cheaper than similar box by Dell.

No nanos
No MacBook Pro bump
No iTunes Movie Store

Sneak Peek at Leopard revealed a backup system called "Time Machine" - looks way cool.
