Leaving Japan for 1 year

I have a permanent resident visa and I have gotten a job offer in the USA so I was thinking of taking it.

I don't want to lose my Visa (took too damn long to get) since I want to be able to come back in a year or so without having to start all over again.

Anyone have any links, info, or suggestions?

As far as I know there are no problems doing this. Make sure that your re-entry stamp is valid for the period that you are gone and then just come back after your year is up.

The only issue is taxes. As you will still be a resident of Japan you still have to file a tax return and pay Japanese taxes (nat health etc too) on your income in the US. For income tax you probably get a credit of whatever you pay in taxes in the US, but if the Japanese taxes are higher you will have to pay the balance owed here.
