Olympic Snowboarder Alleged To Be Sex Worker

[floatr][/floatr]Tomorrow's Shukan Bunshun will carry a story alleging that Melo Imai, the popular member of Japan's snowboard team at the Turin winter Olympics, is working part-time as a sex worker. In the preview above, available through the website BUBKA, she is only mentioned by her initials which leaves readers to decide whether the accompanying pictures are actually her. Imai crashed badly during her event in Turin and had to be airlifted to hospital with a back injury. She was a hit with Japanese fans and picked up some lucrative advertising deals as well as making a debut as a singer. Her brother, Domu Narita, was also competing at the Olympics: they have different surnames because Melo decided to take her mother's maiden name when the siblings fell out with their father over his coaching methods. Imai earned recognition as a professional snowboarder when she was 12 and was the world junior halfpipe champion in 2002. She then had a breakout season on the senior circuit, winning the overall halfpipe crown in the 2004-2005 World Cup season with two wins and five podium finishes. This year, she placed second at an International Ski Federation halfpipe event in February. If the magazine's allegations are true, it throws open the question of whether that constitutes her best finish.

ZakZak (Japanese) has reported on the coverage of this story. No-one seems very certain whether the girl is actually Melo Imai or just claiming to be her. The article says that the adult video industry would very much like to talk with Imai if it is true.

The part-time work Melo Imai is allleged to be doing is a form of deliheru - "delivery health" - where a prostitute visits your home after you call a number. Specifically, Imai was supposed to be doing hoteheru where the meeting place is a hotel room rather than an apartment.

In Aichi prefecture an 39 year old unemployed man has just been arrested for an interesting offence. He phoned up a deliheru company and arranged for a girl to come to a hotel for a bondage session. A 29 year old girl promptly arrived and allowed herself to be tied up. The man then went through her purse, stole 10,000 yen and left her there. Later that same day, a 43 year old woman responded to his call at another hotel, also let herself be tied up and watched while he then stole 150,000 yen from her purse. The arrested man has apparently admitted to the charges.
