NHK Tries to Go Trendy With "Tokyo Kawaii TV"

April 2nd will see the initial broadcast of Tokyo Kawaii TV on NHK. The website claims that foreign celebrities are currently flocking to places like Shibuya's 109 building because of the huge popularity of "kawaii" and the press release also claims that this will be the first fashion digest to be shown on the network. Not everyone welcomes NHK's attempt to reach a younger audience and so it is scheduled to go out after midnight where fewer of these people will notice it. The programme will be helmed by actor Ikki Sawamura, haafu singer/model Beni Arashiro and fashion model Saya. NHK tried out a few pilot slots with the same presenters late last year and another earlier this month ahead of the launch of the regular series. Here's the kind of thing you can expect:
