I wonder how they'll handle the Triads and Yakiuza. Specifically the character Kenji, and the "Wakagashira Wipeout" mission.

As they always do... they will cut out large sections of material.

GTA3 vs. GTA:VC

I agree to a certain extent. Since 3 was never released in Japan, it makes more sense to go right to VC. With VC you get cycles and the helicopter, plus a more tuned game engine, larger map and more story. The only complaint I had with VC was that it didn't give me the same rush as GTA3 did. It was similar to GTA3 (and more of a good thing is always good), but since it didn't have that "revolutionary" feel, it felt like it was missing something.
