What to get as a present for one of my colleagues.

Hi There,

Well, I have a job but I still thought I should put this question in this sub-section of the forum, feel free to move it if you think it is inappropriate.

I work in an American company, working closely with our Japanese partners.
One of the directors at the japanese company, whom I communicate with him very often, recently had his second baby born.

I was wondering what would be appropriate to give him as a present. I would like to send it on behalf of my company. Where I come from, Flowers would do the trick pretty well, but I heard its not such a good idea in Japan.

any ideas?

Cheers,
Ryo

Cupcakes are always a good idea. This company has a baby basket.

Baby blankets are always boring but nice.

This one is a bit different. If they understand English and are Westernized and/or open-minded, they might appreciate this:
