The company with the panda on their truck (Sakai I think). They moved me stuff from Nagoya to Toyohashi, agreed to let me let all my clothes in the furnitures, taped the drawer shut and helped me finish some of the packing. Total 2 trucks less than a day. Crazy fast and efficient AND they discard item you don't want to keep for free. Also nothing broken.

I will second the recommendation from Coligny. The Panda did a great job with my last move (though it was internal inside Tokyo). Fast, efficient, helpful, reasonably priced, and no damage.

i used ART corporation 0123 (http://www.the0123.co.jp) to have my stuff sent up from osaka to tokyo. don't know if they were the cheapest, but they were very fast and efficient and turned up on time and came back to do a professional cleaning the next day.

Good experience with Art Corporation

Hi there

We moved to a place 300 km from Tokyo using 0123 Art Corporation.
We requested estimates from 4 companies.
Art Corporation was the cheapest and most professional of the lot.
The salesperson explained us that the price depended on the date of the move, and we determined that date following his advice. As a result, it was cheaper than I had expected.

I have worked in the relocation industry, and my advice would be to request estimates from 3 or 4 companies. You may know this practice is called "ai mitsumori". Then you can choose the mover who seems to be the most reliable or makes the best impression.

I hope this helps. Good luck with the move.

Always get 3-4 companies to come, preferrably on the same day, and have their arrival times overlap. If they know there's competition, they won't bullshit you as much. Additionally, never tell them if there's a company picking up the bill, as they will bump up their estimate as a result.

When I was moving 100km (give or take), I got 3 different estimates ranging from 240,000 yen to 80,000 yen. Ended up paying 65,000 yen after negotiations. You will get hosed if you trust them to provide an appropriate estimate.

The Chinese that have moved into this, do a good job for less than 50% of what the Japanese major removal companies do. I used them 2 years ago and saved a bundle.

We used those panda-sportin' mofos, too. Cheap, careful, everything Coligny said.
