once upon a time in Tokyo if you went to a bar to meet your buddy and your buddy was late you picked up a copy of a free paper to thumb thru while you waited

then along came the smart phone

the free paper medium is in decline

Damn, there go the plans for a print version of FG.

If print publications could downsize to the dimensions of a bar of chocolate and somehow encourage their readers to make the kind of one and two-fingered swiping gestures of the sort one would make on a woman's naughty bits if one was in an ill-advised hurry to get down to business, they might stand a fighting chance.

Is he Muck Delvin' now?

If he'd put as much effort into making his magazine this enjoyable to read, he wouldn't be having these sorts of problems now....

Sparky should team up with CJ and Debito to bang out a 500-page manifesto slamming everyone from the grade school lunch lady who wouldn't give seconds on pudding cups to the salaryman who sat next to them on the train yesterday but kinda looked like he was thinking twice about it first.

when you read the numbers flying around you can't help but wonder why people "volunteer"

Not much more to tell, apparently there were some legal issues some time ago between a well heeled young man about town and a couple of entrepreneurs, rather than go through all the rigmarole of a court case one of the entrepreneurs took advantage of a visit by siblings to this fair isle and had them settle the matter out of court. I can't help wondering what a young impressionable man of independent means could have done to end up in this situation with two such speedy entrepreneurs.

Which is why in my little circle the general attitude is "couldn't have happened to nicer people"

It's just because you are not on the good side of the business plan.

Speaking of which... Does youze knows how one can become one of those underpaid outsourced slaves operating behind facebook complaints review teams ? I heard it's a 'telecommuting' job mostly awarded to india or other third world shithole...

But it's a fucking stalker wet dream...

Undeniably so. Just in case you're in any doubt, if I complain about anything it's because I'm not a beneficiary. I freely admit to being a massive hypocrite with absolutely no morals or scruples. I would have made a perfect lawyer, banker, politician or priest had I realized and acknowledged these character traits earlier in life.....ah, well.

I am probably among the world's worst people to ask about anything Internet-related. I'm an absolute technophobe and have too much pride to be an outsourced slave. It does sound like a fun job, though....

These lastest accusations seem to make the Lloydodon look very rational. :(

Terrie Lloyd: The print magazine I own has no future
May 29, 2013 by Mark Devlin blog
Yesterday I noticed a column on Beacon Reports by Roger Solomon....
..Terrie Lloyd Pulls Out of Paper Publishing
, attempts to portray Lloyd as a publishing expert who through no fault of his own has found that the print market is just not profitable any more and is wisely moving ahead to a new age of digital publishing. It is filled with the usual Lloyd misdirections: blaming the Lehman shock and the Tohoku earthquake for his troubles; how he has “relinquished control” of Metropolis; how he gave up the ACCJ Journal magazine (we have heard from multiple sources he was fired) and his latest trope, also echoed in the most recent Terrie’s Take: Print is dead.

I still find it odd that despite magazines all over the globe closing down and going digital, that the downturn for Metropolis is still being blamed on Terrie Lloyd.

I have no doubt that Terrie is in financial trouble with Metropolis and the Devlins, however, I do doubt that the cash Mark is claiming is his, is in Terrie's pocket or squirrelled away in off shore bank accounts. Rather that it just doesn't and never has existed. Moving the debt was probably just to keep the doors open and the lights on. If Terrie goes bankrupt then nobody will get any money ever!!

The silence from the Link Media side is deafening. I suspect that this case will see the inside of a court room 'ere long.

I strongly doubt it. What's the point? The best the Devloons could get would be a ruling for a few million, which Turdy won't pay anyway. It would only be worthwhile for them to shut Turdy up when he counters their arguments by saying "Mark, I'll see you in court," knowing full well that the Devloons' eventual victory (and it will be a victory because Turdy Roid has never refuted their arguments with any detail and admits not paying his bills) will be nothing more than Pyrrhic and maybe too much for those canny Scots to fork out, especially if they're going to fuck off back to Florida and sing karaoke again.

I've little sympathy for any of the people in this spat, all of whom are living the high life while they're fucking around with the lives of the poor punters slaving away for them (or being bashed up, in some cases).

Scumbags.
