I always thought that the best thing for a restaurant would be a sumo wrestler nomikai but apparently that isn't the case. Since I don't live too far from Ryogoku there are a lot of rikishi in my area and I've been told by the locals that most restaurants hate it when a group of sumo decided to stop in and a lot of places won't allow it. Their MO is apparently to grace the shop with their presence and leave claiming a sponsor will come by to settle the massive tab later. When or even if that actually happens is anybody's guess. Best case scenario it takes months to get paid.

Every sumo wrestler I ever had to deal with directly (and there was a few of them down the years, but I won't name them because I'm decent) was a fucken arsehole, so your post is not the least bit surprising. I just hope they're extorting mulitnational companies that exploit at every level of their business chain, but fear it's probably poor old Taro and Hanako busting their gizzards to make a living.

A former co-worker of mine was the daughter of an ex-sumo wrestler (no idea who) who ran a restaurant (the ex-sumo wrestler, not the daughter). Not sure if that's relevant to anything, but though I'd mention it.
