I actually read in a newspaper article once that due to the LOOOOOOOOOOONG wait for the legalized pill that Japan actually had the highest rate of condom use. Don't know if it's true or not. I know from anecdotal evidence that a lot of Japanese guys like to bang the soapland, health, etc. workers bareback. They even pay extra for it. Fucking nuts.

Funny how the old gay term "bareback" has made its way into general use. Anyway, I read somewhere (probably in a weekly magazine) that approximately half of Japanese sex workers have HPV. Yuuuuck! Think I'd be saving the barebackin' for the wifey-wife.

Even a condom isn't foolproof against HPV and herpes, so when you're paying a visit to your local fashion health place, keep in mind that the babe's snaggle teeth aren't the only threat to your physical well-being.

It's far, far more sinster than that....

A low-dose version of the pill was only permitted in 1999--- Japan and North Korea were the only two countries in the world where the pill made illegal.

Why?

1. Abortions were and are the most widely used form of contraception in Japan. The Japanese Medical Assocation (JMA) has put forth the arguments that the pill causes cancer, death, increased sexual activity and spread of venereal disease. The reality doctors campaigned to keep the pill illegal to maintain their income gained from abortions - their financial interest was making them behave counter to their obligation to uphold public health.
