I saw the first two video clips I posted on a blog with links to comments on 2ch and Nico Nico Douga, It seemed the reaction was almost universally negative towards this march regardless of how people thought about the Calderon case specifically. Most didn't care for the fact they went near two schools which is not always clear in other YouTube videos taken that day.

Zaitokukai has been around for a while and have been active in opposing Korean pressure groups in particular. As far as they are concerned, the root of the "foreign" problem lies with the status of special permanent residents and virtually everything after that is an unnecessary concession. They were demanding a full apology from Warabi officials for allowing the child of illegal immigrants to have attended school in the first place and wanted police and immigration officials to do a full sweep of the area to track down any other illegals. The group is certainly comprised of right wingers but it is interesting that a lot of what they say is echoed in other anti-immigration debates around the world.

You can see the reaction to it right here in FG world. Immediately, a bunch of FG politicos emotionally react confusing the illegal immigration issue with the spirit of the demonstration. They are two separate issues. The demonstrators should pick more appropriate targets - there are enough; all three illegals should be deported.

Nice response...I broke some laws when I was younger, and I got caught, and I paid the price, and I learned my lesson, and grew the fuck up, and understood why we have laws even if they seem unimportant or not. It really isn't that hard to abide by the law, really it does not take an holy~ness.

They had a child, and now want that status just handed to them. I find it very poor for them to use their child as a bargaining chip. The poor girl is in a horrible situation.

I don't agree totally with Japans immigration laws, but I respect them as resident here. If they allow them to stay, how many more people are going to do the same thing? Then what, what kind of strain is that going to put on the country with welfare, benefits, medical etc. Not harming anyone. Look at the big picture. This is not an isolated incident.

Assuming that is true, which I would respectfully disagree with you on separately, where in your estimation would the limit be? If cheap labor is the benefit which feeds the bottom line - net to the economy as you say, then the more people you allow to immigrate, the greater the increase the supply of labor, and further depressed wages will become, the greater the net economic gain (bottom line). So logically, the more the better. These low wages will be gladly accepted by the new comers arriving from poverty-stricken, repressive places. Do you think that this net economic gain is in anyway stratified? Are there cultural consequences that are not net beneficial? Is it good for the nation wholistically?

The biggest problem with immigration is the political one. Not wanting to lose control of your tribes turf is what stops most countries.
Of course letting the flood gates open and having unrestricted immigration is problematic. Especially from underdeveloped nations. There would be a strain if the state was to house an welfare all....but that is rarely the case and once working they contribute. Even the ones who do not pay taxes.
Take the EU as an example, there hasn't been any decline in the economies from open borders. (any decline now is from a fucked up banking system)

In my opinion Japan is shooting itself in the foot when it comes to immigration. They need more to keep their pathetic nezumiko nenkin and bloated bureaucracy running. I know in Australia if you had been in the country illegally for 15 years they would grant citizenship.
