Kissing table tops

Postby ramchop » Thu Jan 30, 2003 11:48 am

How common a practice is it to put you face down on the desk and have a short nap? The guy on the desk behind me is currently indulging in such an activity, it's the second case I've noticed this month.

Yes! The after-lunch nap is a time honored tradition here at Maybe-Japan's-Largest-Electronics-Company Inc.

But it's not after lunch, and face directly down onto a desk top can't be the most comfortable of sleeping positions.

Hell, right now my lead engineer is passed out on his keyboard and taking some Zs, literally. His nose is entering ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZs on the screen: actually, it's Gggggggggs now. The poor sad-sack...chronic sleep deprivation is the norm from middle school until retirement in Japan.

I take advantage of the after-lunch nap daily!!! i think it's a common practice though.. i see a few teachers now and then dozing off now and then too...

One kickass thing about teaching english at elementary schools is that they all have tatami mat rest areas for teachers.. Last friday I took a three hour nap out of my six hour work day... hehe.. School play rehearsal cancelled all of the english classes for the day...

Hell, what's so taboo about a working-hours nap when there's no work to be done. Not a lazy bastard, just enjoy my sleep when it's a possibility.

Totally agree, though I spend my lazy hours surfing rather than sleeping. The big question is about the face down on the desk position, how can that possibly be comfortable?... in fact, unless totally drunk, how is sleeping like that even remotely possible.

easily explainable..

us gaijin have longer noses that get in the way.. the japanese face is typically a little flatter, thus less painful...
