Im trying to find and english transcript of a Speech Given by Crown Princess Masako in December 1996. I know they exist but i cant find it - any advice on where i should look for that and any other transcripts of speeches etc given by Japanese Imperial Family members.

The obvious place to start would be the Imperial Household Agency website but they don't have anything before 1997 on their English page. Even the Internet Archive doesn't show any pre-97 activity, but they only have archives back to 2002.
In any case, the Kunaicho seems to have erased Masako-sama, they have speeches and letters from almost everyone but her.

I have a feeling you're going to have to go to a library and find a paper copy. I'm not sure what speech from Dec 96 you are seeking, the only thing I could find online was about a press conference, at least there are a couple of sentences of direct quotes.

Thanks Charles. Yes the CNN article relates to the transcript im looking for. Its not so much a speech as a press conference she gave, but it runs for 14 pages in english so i am very keen to get my hands on one.
