Mrs. Catone said she had this patient who was frantically buzzing her clinic's doorbell during their lunchtime. The staff let him in, and he "presented," as they say, with a rather deep cut on his hand - said he'd cut it "on a fence." So my wife gave him some stitches and sent him on his way. He came back the next day complaining that his hand was swollen, and sure enough it was, so my wife opened the suture, drained the cut, and gave him antibiotics. This went on for a week, with daily visits, and then the guy said that he felt like his hand was losing its mobility. Mrs. Catone referred him to a specialist. The specialist called her back and said, yeah, the infection had spread to his tendons or something, and by the way, the guy didn't cut himself on a fence; he works in a lab, and a monkey bit him! Mrs. Catone, who had been questioning her treatment of the guy, was really annoyed that the dumbass hadn't told her the real reason for the cut. Apparently he was embarrassed or something. Maybe he was afraid she'd wonder if he'd caught the "Rage" virus.
