An interesting article, however I believe it's definitely more common for Japanese women and Western men to get together than the other way round. I think this was bluepxl's lament.

While I know of several western woman/asian man couples (again stressing that GomiGirl and I are not the only freaks around :P ) I must admit that being out with my hubby people really do double-takes when they see us. It's worse outside of Tokyo (we stop cars in Kanagawa), but you can certainly notice that there are more stares even if we are in Shibuya.

Haven't read all the posts here, but from my point of view, the issue has to do with height. A lot of guys prefer girls to be shorter than them, and for me, a girl at 5'6", a lot of Japanese guys are shorter than me. I usually prefer someone taller.

Why should it piss you off and why is it any of your business? Why is it any different to the guys that say they will only date girls of Asian descent - I do know quite a few of them. Isn't it simply a matter of taste and preference? Sure I take the piss from guys like this all the time but I am certainly not personally offended. Some guys will only date girls who are blonde..

Personally I don't decide who to date based on race and I wouldn't exclude or exclusively include based on race either.. never say never but the key point is that it is my decision which I don't need to justify to anybody... Race and nationality are secondary to the personalities involved.

But I must take issue on the "our females" phrase!! Gai, if you are not of asian descent, that is where the similarities between us start and finish.
