Doutor Coffee

There is this Doutor Coffee House (above logo) near my house. Has any one seen this same logo of coffe house before? I ever ask the staffs and they said they don't belong to Doutor Coffee Co Ltd, which is true if you go to the Doutor Coffee's website and see their list of stores http://www.doutor.co.jp/corporate/en/brand.html Excuse my ignorance, but can an individual coffee house carry the same name as another coffee house chains' name?

Never seen it, but at least they seem to acknowledge its existence on the official Doutor site.

https://www.doutor.co.jp/ir/jp/news/html/20050922.htm

(The Fall Coffee Fair will *not* be taking place at Doutor Coffee House, Le Cafe Doutor, Cafe Colorado, etc.)

Maybe a defunct subsidiary? Somebody has a blog entry about this store, and they are also totally confused.

Tina, you have unearthed a true mystery!

yes, it is that outlet at Gyouutoku.

Thanks for that blog and spotted that acknowledgement about D.C 'House' in the Doutor Coffe's site. Another mystery (to me only) is that I think the English Teacher Ms Hawker and the man had gone to this outlet. In the video footage, the table/chairs looked very similar, but I have't gone and see if the camera's location is the same.

Ahhhh, my favorite kind of mystery of the Orient.:p

Here's an explanation via this Japanese blog:
By the way, this is different Doutor Tachikawa... After checking the website of Doutor (http://www.doutor.co.jp/top.htm) and doing store search, the shop is not found. It turns out that the Katakana for the coffee shops' registered company names are different: ドトールコーヒーハウスとドトールコーヒーショップ that is, [dotorukohihausu] and [dotorukohishiyotsupu] are different.
It turns out that one Japanese forum mentions:
"this retro Doutor Coffee Haus remains and cooks uniquely. Although it probably seems that it is in a building containing mental clinic ...."

More "Doutor Coffee House" photos here:
http://hikko2.hp.infoseek.co.jp/dchgyo.htm

Many other Japanese bloggers question why the "retro Doutor" does, "appear on the official Doutor homepage??"

Here are several references and photos of "ドトールコーヒーハウス"

Here's the Koko Kara "diet water" drink. The name even confuses the shops - it's labelled above as Coca Cola.

Just an update since I was the one who brought up this topic. I went to Tachikawa and check this retro style Doutor Coffee House, the interior is indeed similar to Gyoutouku retro D.C.H. I asked the staff and they claimed thay do belong to Doutor Coffee. Their menu are diffrent but they are selling the same coffee products. There is another Doutor Coffee shop about less than 150 meter away. Mystery solved.
