Onion Atlas - Japan

Postby Mulboyne » Tue Jan 01, 2008 9:02 pm

This week's Onion Atlas features Japan. For instance:

FACTS ABOUT JAPAN

LANGUAGES
Japanese, overly enthusiastic English

NATURAL HAZARDS
Randomly place swinging blades, falling blocks, spike-pit traps, mini bosses

ENVIRONMENTAL AGREEMENTS
Will stop whaling when it stops being fun

JUSTICE SYSTEM
Modelled after European civil law and Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics

FETISHES
Millions of Japanese men admit to having a bit of an Asian fetish

"Early Japanese villagers consume entire meals with nothing more than two primitive sticks held together between their thumb and forefinger"

I love The Onion...considering the way they usually make fun of other countries...they have been kind to Japan!!

I agree they're hilarious. Though in many of their articles (including the one you mention) I think their real aim is poking fun at American newspapers. Particularly small-town local publications, which really truly run articles that might pass for Onion entries.
