Old time songs

Postby canman » Tue Apr 21, 2009 9:28 pm

I know this has nothing to do with Japan, but I came upon this site with tons of stuff, but one of the interesting things is that it has a jukebox for a lot of my formative years, which plays the top 20 of that year. It is so great. I'm adding the link for a lot of old TV shows that I'm sure most of you old timer FG will remember. I hope posting this won't cause any copyright problems.

Keeping on the right side of any copyright discussions, in Europe, Spotify is gaining ground. Looking at Canman's list, all of those songs are available along with several million others and I use the service every day for a whole range of music. It will be something of a wrench to go to Tokyo where it isn't available. Are similar services such as Deezer, iMeem and Blip.fm also unavailable there?

If you are really into old TV show themes, you can go here and not only listen to them but also download them.

http://themes.wavethemes.net/index.html

For example there were four versions of the theme to the Rifleman
with Chuck Conners, you can download all four:

RIFLEMN1.ZIP 53974 15Nov97 | The Rifleman (TV) (begin)(ABC 9/58-7/63)
RIFLEMN2.ZIP 154817 11Nov97 | The Rifleman (CD) (begin+end)
RIFLEMN3.ZIP 97794 1ct00 | The Rifleman ending (TV ver)(ABC 9/58-7/63)
RIFLEMN4.ZIP 267792 11Oct05 | Rifleman (LP Ver by ABC Orchestra)(ABC 9/58-7/63)

Thanks Bucky, I just added that link as an example, but I just thought that some of the members of this site ywould get a kick out of hearing some of the songs they grew up with. For example I never new that the song about "if you love Pina Coladas" real title was "escape" until yesterday.
As for the site Mulboyne included I checked it out and wish we had access to it, it looks very promising.
