Not a true representation of actual books

I have a friend needing to get rid of his FG books. I thought there was a thread dedicated to this but couldn't find it..

Does anyone know of an easy way to find homes for dusty FG books?

GG pointed me in this direction earlier (Tokyo Freecycle), but I was thinking of something more book specific..

Thanks is advance..

Maybe he can trade them in at Book-Off? He might be able to get an edition in the original Japanese.

Does he want to sell them or donate them?

For selling there are a few bookshops that will take them.
The Blue Parrot (Takadanobaba)
Good Day Books (Ebisu)

There are probably a few more. These places also take donations.

For pure donations, the Salvation Army in Nakan-ku has a drop box - 24 hours
I think the Tokyo Union Church runs a book fair as well.

There are probably book clubs around - a faint bell in ringing in the dark recesses of my brain but I can't find the file at the moment. But I am sure that others may have some *useful* suggestions. (/ taking a snipe at Charles)

Humor is always useful, except to the humorless.

Book Off in Shiroganedai, on Meguro Dori, also buys English books. Personally, I'd prefer to support the smaller shops and organizations you have already looked at but it is another option.

I don't know how well it would work with books in a non-native language nor in a place where large scale paper recycling of book like items takes place, but bookcrossing.com might be of interest
The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

Some coffee drinker probably already knew this- In case anyone need to dump off some old books and do some charities at the same time, Starbucks Japan is collecting old books from 1st to 25th Dec. They will sell the book and give the fund to Japan Braille Library. Just fill in a simple form (can be printed online or take from the counter) and pass the books to them. http://www.starbucks.co.jp/holiday/event/index.html?cid=pc_wh_b42 (in Japanese)
