Tokyo Shitamachi Bus English Website

Postby Mulboyne » Thu Nov 19, 2009 8:53 pm

TMG: Launch of the Tokyo Shitamachi Bus Website
Since April 2008 the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Transportation has been operating the Tokyo Shitamachi bus, a route bus that links several sightseeing spots in the metropolitan area. It runs from Tokyo Station to Ryogoku Station, with stops at Nihombashi, Akihabara, Ueno, Kappabashi, and Asakusa in between. A multilingual website will be opened to increase awareness of this bus service among visitors to Tokyo from overseas.

Thanks Mulb. Since we are on the topic of the Hachiko bus which centers around Shibuya, I thought I would mention a few other bus bargains in that area.

1) If you are going to be riding the Tokyu bus lines 3 or more times in one day, you can buy a 500 yen "ichi nichi jousha ken" that lets you ride unlimited all day. You can buy it at the station or directly from the driver.

2) Tokyu also runs a shuttle bus called "Tokyu Transses" that basically runs in a nonstop loop between the Daikanyama and Shibuya areas. Normal fare is 150 yen, but there are two discounts. First, on Sundays and holidays the fare is only 100 yen. Also, if you ride as a group any other day, every person after the 1st person gets a 50 yen discount. A good reason to make friends with the old ladies waiting at the bus stop with you!

EDIT: forgot to mention that both Hachiko Bus and Tokyu Transses management appear to be willing to let their younger female staff, occasionally attractive, behind the wheel. :drool5:
