I'm sure I read a while back that on JR's Green Car they were offering the free use of Nintendo DS games and software. Did anybody else here that or was I just dreaming? Or was it JAL or ANA?
Jacques Plante: "How would you like a job where, every time you make a mistake, a big red light goes on and 18,000 people boo?"
The only thing JR offers on the Sobu Line "Green Cars" is an abundance of crotchety oyaji who kick off their shoes, rub their achin' feet, eat osembe, and drink beer. Gets kinda funky at times. On the plus side, they've now got cute JR chix who check your Green Car credentials and sell grossly overpriced drinks and snacks.
"If there's a river, we'll dam it, and if there's a tree, we'll ram it - 'cause we Japanese are talkin' progress!"
I love the shinkansen green cars. Seats are bigger, much more space between rows, cabin is carpeted and much better insulated for sound, you get blankets upon request, and the "JR chix" are generally a lot easier on the eyes than those in the normal seats.
The new shachou of my current employer is a cheapass bastard (don't get me started...) and won't authorize the upgrades. I pay the 5k yen each way for it myself for the monthly trips to Tokyo.
Anyway, to answer canman's question, no, there are no DS games or anything like that. Thank god! One of the other good things about green cars is that they tend to be free of screaming monsters whose parents can't control them. (Not trying to imply that anyone on FG has kids like that but holy shit a lot of the J-parents around seem to have NO control over their kids these days.)
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
