Snow Day!!

Postby matsuki » Fri Jan 20, 2012 1:44 pm

Dayam it's cold! This snow doesn't seem to be stopping....and all I can think about is all those construction companies that try to tell FG that "insulation in homes isn't needed unless you live in Hokkaido." :hehe:

My boss with his high blood pressure refuses to raise the temp on the heater so I'm freezing in the office. How are you guys enjoying the land of the four seasons in the homes built for one season?

The Bunker is freezing cold... that's what you get for building over the ground facilities...

Should ask for an estimation on isolation... I'm sure for around 100 windows we might have a discount...

By the way... guys... please post snow pictures... It's soo cool to look at snow falling from inside a warm house...
My hometown of Verdun was quite... excessive as far as weather variation goes...
Summer : +40dC
Winter : -20dC

But as grandpa said... anway... you can't really tell the difference between -20 and -30...

Needless to say there was really little iron gates in this city (at least that were functionnal all year round...)
[B]Matt Johnson still missing in Japan]
MLive.com | Thursday, January 19, 2012
PORTAGE (Michigan USA) --
Officials in Japan continue to search for missing Portage resident Matt Johnson, who left for a business trip in the country Jan. 8 and went missing this past weekend while camping at Mount Fuji.
A statement from Eaton, where Johnson works as a software engineer, says "Our thoughts remain with Matthew Johnson's family during this difficult time. As the search for Matt continues, we remain in close contact with the authorities conducting the search in Japan."

nothin here yet but am told it's on the way. we got 50+cm around the new year and it's been melting off since.

it still boggles my mind at times how shitty houses are. this time of year i have to put stuff in the fridge so it doesn't freeze.

One advantage of living in a rabbit hutch in Tokyo is you can crank up the heat and not have to worry too much about the electricity bill. The bathroom is still fucking freezing in the morning though.

Sorta...less volume to heat but in most places the insulation still sucks, single pane windows, etc. Many people I know have to rock a gas stove and the electric A/C-heater unit at the same time to warm up. At least if we were in BFE there would be fireplaces and other ways to heat yourself up.

This is my first abstract snow creature of 2012. Will be meeting with a representative from the Louvre tomorrow.

Superbz... thanks...

Coligny you need to get out of the bunker more..

Trouble is... I'm a cold blooded creature... my comfort range is between 19.5C and 21C... below and I'm prime candidate for hypothermia, over and I sweat and head full speed toward dehydratation...

Up to 29 I'm still moderately functionnal but over 30 things start to fall appart quite quickly...

I'm sooo not fit for japanese weather...

Hahaha, all I can say is layer like mad and if you can still move when you're done, you'll be warm. I cheated today by wearing one of my heated jackets attached to a brick sized battery....but I wasn't cold :D
