Why is it....?

Postby Nagged » Sat Nov 08, 2003 9:21 pm

Why is it...that my apartment already looks ready to be condemned less than 10 years after it was built? :(

Why is it...that there are traffic lights every 100 meters, and I live in the countryside?

Why is it...that I can bargain for things 'cause people think haggling is standard procedure overseas?

Why is it...that my boss isn't smart enough to erase his temporary internet files after doing overtime at the office?

Well, unless your boss is very young, he probably doesn't know what temporary internet files are. ;)

No, I live in Chubu. I just play the part of the financially challenged FG.

Actually he was in the computer business for quite a while before he joined up where we work now. I think the problem was he didn't expect anyone to know where to look.

I won't go into detail, but I think it's fair to surmise that his wife would not be happy.

Come on, you can tell us FGs. It's not like any of us are going to meet your boss anyway.

Why Kamome, don't you know that gentlemen never tell?

But since I am an unrefined barbarian...

Actually I have 2 bosses, (at least one of them lives under the delusion of being my boss)

One seems to be a regular patron of ill-reputed establishments, and the other...well, he seems to have rather serious problems, I will go no further in my expose.

I can be rather naughty myself, but I do know the meaning of Not Safe for Work.

It's always good to have dirt on a boss.

Saved my hide once big time. I'll tell you the story.

In the U.S. Air Force, my section chief was an ass. He caused me to receive an Article 15 for something I didn't do. It was his word against mine.

Anyway, we had problems because he was the guru in the office until I showed up. I made it seem like he didn't know ANYTHING.

Well he was getting ready to leave to go to another duty station, and he was being really pissy. Some data cartridges started dissappearing around the office. So I searced his office and looked in the boxes he packed but hadn't sealed and found a few of them. Then while working on the computer in his office, I found some stuff that had NO BUSINESS being on an Air Force computer. Pattern programs. I'm talking sewing pattern programs.

I brought in 2 others of his rank to look at what I had found. And was gonna let them deal with it.

The VERY NEXT DAY, bossman comes in bustin my chops about some paperwork I was supposed to take someplace that HE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HIMSELF. I took the paperwork where he told me to take it, but it was wrong. (This man is forgetful and that is what caused me my Article 15) I disputed and argued with him telling him he was wrong in NO uncertain terms and that I did exactly what he told me. Anyway, he told me to go fix the paperwork and to meet him in the First Sergeants office after that. I said "Fine". And I walked out with a smile on my face cause I was gonna hang his ass.

I didn't get halfway back and on my way to the command building before his out of shape ass is trying to catch me and he was apologizing saying he is an asshole before he gets his coffee.

I knew exactly what happened. One of the other NCOs had peeped him to the amount of dirt I had on him. And that he was sealing his doom by being an ass to me.

The rest of the time the man was there, I had no problems.

Having dirt on a boss saved me when I was working at NOVA too.

Stuff like this is why I bring my own computer to work everyday and just plug into the network. Even then, I know better than to visit any "non-work safe" sites, because I've got no idea if there are any "sniffers" or other such things on the servers.

It's just nice to have all my bookmarks, software and everything else at hand.

Yeah, well, I couldn't really care less about my bosses sexual preferences, I just looked out of curiosity because these guys are so straight. Kinda of a "if we do it, how about them?" sort of thing.

The other guys had a good laugh at what we saw. Framed well and truly. Boys will be boys. No harm done.
