Tokyo Sky Tree and ''Musashi'' and 634 meters high

Postby torasan » Sat Jan 03, 2015 3:13 pm

I was watching a 2013 movie last night by Yoji Yamada called TOKYO FAMILY, based on Ozu's TOKYO STORY movie from 50 or 60 years ago but this 2013 movie is about a modern family in Tokyo and with subtitles on YouTube, and it was fun to watch as a New Year's treat. In the movie at one point, the family is talking about the Tokyo Sky Tree tower, and that it’s 634 meters high and that it's also dubbed by locals as the Musashi Tower since the height “634 meters” comes from “mu-sa-shi,” which is a name for the Tokyo area. In Japanese, one says “muttsu” (Mu) for the number ”six”, “san” (Sa) for the number “three”, and “shi” (Shi) for the number “four”. Does everyone call it MUSASHI TOWER or just the movie dialog?

Don't forget one of Japan's major islands is "Death Country".

and th3 worst of all...

shi...goto...

Checked the patient room number in the bunker...
No number 4 either, jump from 3 to 5... Which is even funerer since patient rooms being on the second floor, they start at 21 then 22, 23, 25, 26, 27... Well, except for mah bunk, which had to be 42...
