Officials taken to task over jackets harassing welfare recipients

The Odawara City office has taken seven officials to task after dozens of public workers and contractors bought jackets bearing an English phrase calling illegitimate welfare recipients "dregs," it said Tuesday.
According to the city in Kanagawa Prefecture, a total of 64 personnel, including welfare case workers, purchased the jackets with their own money and some city officials were wearing the jackets when they visited households of welfare recipients during work hours.
Printed on the back of the jackets were English phrases such as "Finding injustice of them, we chase them and punish injustice to accomplish the proper execution" and "If they try to deceive us for gaining a profit by injustice, 'We dare to say, They are dregs!'"

How can you say that? The SHAT crest does not seem to have a Liverbird (alternative link), and the flames are less fierce. The drape of the ribbon is different and there is no ®. All significant points of difference.

If that is where they are shatting from, then they have bigger problems than repayment of inappropriately claimed welfare payments, the dregs.

They are standard issue in school teachers' rooms as well. Never see one used in anger or in training - they just sit in plain view gathering dust. I suppose they might work on brats.

The teachers at the yochien my kids went to train with them, and they do escape drills with the kids. They do work, the idea is to keep the attacker occupied while the kids escape and the cops arrive.

Exactly what Legion said. They are a good tool for relatively untrained (a drill or two a year) people to attempt to handle a variety of possible dangerous situations in a workplace setting and have a chance at reducing bad outcomes before the cops show up.
