Taro not big in Japan?

Postby Caustic Saint » Thu Jan 22, 2004 9:44 am

Strolling around Tokyo yesterday (while waiting for Apple Ginza to put a "normal" keyboard on my new iBook) I came across a most startling sight. It seems some Tokyo residents are less than pleased with our own mega-poster, Taro.

One of them seems to be so unhappy he's named his business to reflect his discontent:

What will I find today? Who knows that? :D

Heh. Reminds me of years back when I worked in the U.S. with somebody who was trading stocks on the Fukuoka stock exchange. Suddenly one day, he noticed something amazing and called us all over to his desk. "Hey everybody, look, it says 'fuck you, okay'!".

I've also had friends visiting from the U.S. stroll through Harajuku and exclaim, "hey, that street is called 'take a shit'-dori!".

This doesn't say much good about the caliber of people I associate with, does it...

And yet, looking strangely satisfied, is this group of young ladies (obtained by googling FukuTaro) who appear to be part of some FukuTaro club, complete with uniforms.

Perhaps the guy in the middle is their counsellor.
