Somehow, this is supposed to give a woman "security", but I figure that if a marriage contract that can be terminated, and completely destroyed along with the friendship (if there ever was any) at almost at any time, a marriage is completely insecure. You'd have more security by living with friends who actually cared about you and will help you out in times of need (and hey, you could even have sex with them too if you wanted), or by keeping a dog around the house.
