8.6 in Indonesia, Tsunami Warning

Postby waruta » Wed Apr 11, 2012 7:28 pm

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/usc000905e.php

A tsunami alert was issued for the entire Indian Ocean Wednesday after a powerful 8.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded off Indonesia's coast.

The U.S. Geological Survey said, in its latest revised statement, that the quake was centered about 14 miles beneath the ocean floor and 270 miles from Banda Aceh, the provincial capital of Aceh, at 2:38 p.m. local time (4:38 am. ET).

The quake is in a similar location and of a similar magnitude to the 9.1-magnitude tremor on Dec. 26, 2004 that triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean, killing 230,000 people, nearly three-quarters of them in Aceh province.

Tsunami watch issued for Hawaii after magnitude 8.2 quake hits Alaska
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nat ... 412396001/

Looks like the warning may be canceled

but when the shit really hits the fan globally a and when the Super-Quake comes.... would Japan return to its old ways...remember the big merchant class... guys selling watches or things or trinkets, they were always pretty much bottom of the barrell just one step above Ainu and Hibakusha
