When you mess with the traditional fighting garb of a people strong in tradition you are asking for trouble as the Sumo-Wrestling Association recently discovered in Japan. For the past two seasons now, all across Japan, Sumo-wrestling audiences have been down and the sport has been in danger of being marginalised as other traditionally western sports ....
About three years ago, the [Sumo-Wrestling Association] decided that the showing of so much flagrant flesh during the matches was having an adverse effect on food sales and so banned the showing of skin above the knee and below the elbow....in a comeback match against incumbent Korean national champ Wa Chowt Udon Sqwishmee, came out wearing an old banned model of the triple-C g-string (with added fluorescent tassels) to the spontaneous applause of the crowds.
