Help on Ramen

I am visiting Tokyo and Yokohama for about 10 days and I was wondering if anyone knows of a good ramen shop in that area. Directions and specifics are appreciated. It doens't matter what kind of ramen( shoyu,tonkotsu,miso,etc.)

Tokyo and Yokohama - can you narrow it down a bit? There is a ramen shop on nearly every street corner...

One of my faves is in Shinjuku ni-chome. Bit tricky to find but if you walk down Shinjuku-dori on the same side of the street as Shinjuku-gyoen, it is about one or two streets on your right after you cross the "big street" that leads into Shijuku Gyoen (don't know the name but it is the only one that has a traffic island)

It is on this side street and has a big flag that says (oddly enough) "ramen". It is really cheap and really yummy and the best time is the wee hours of the morning. It is not open early evening. It is not a glamourous place at all.. but then most ramen shops are not..

if you're in yokohama (shin-yokohama to be precise) then i can really recommend a visit to the ramen museum. it's very nice and there's a large choice of different ramen.

One of my faves is in Shinjuku ni-chome. Bit tricky to find but if you .....

I presume you're talking about the famous (and fllthy) "Kaika" in Shinjuku. It serves Kumamoto (Kyushu) style ramen featuring an rich a broth and noodles are on the hard side. They also have a clean yuppy version in the Northwest corner of the basement of the 109 Building in Shibuya...same price, easier to find, and 10,000% cleaner (no "fun").

"Shibuya 109", just over the road from Hachiko statue at Shibuya station. The "109" building marks a fork in the road. The "109" name is a Japanese pun The Japanese word for 10 is "to" and 9 "kyu". Put 'em words and you get "Tokyu", the name of the department store that owns the building. (Hey don't laugh, this is what I do for fun on Friday night.)

There's a great ramen place next to Wall Street (the bar) in Roppongi. If you're going to be here for 10 days, I assume you'll be making the obligatory trip or 3 to the bars in Roppongi, so have a bowl of ramen after pounding the beers. I can't remember exactly how to get there, but if you see Wall Street, the ramen shop is down the dead-end street nearby.

Also, Tsukumo Ramen in Ebisu has some kick-ass tonkotsu (broth made from pork bone) ramen. There's always a long line in front of it. From Ebisu station west exit, turn right and go under the bridge. Keep going straight until you hit the elevated pedestrian walkway. Go up and over the walkway, still going straight. You'll see the ramen shop on your right. It's an open air setup with a crowd waiting to get in the door. The shop is located next to Ebisu Prime Square, which is the best known landmark nearby.

Ichiran in Shibuya, on the same street as the Tower records shop, just before the Haagen Dasz, Kyushu style customizable tonkotsu.
There's also one in shinjuku, south exit next to the citi bank at a corner, they make a yummy Miso chashu ramen, their gyozas are not bad either.

If you come out the north end of Asakusa Shrine: amonst all the shop selling 2-toed-slippers, theres a ramen shop that got a "best ramen in Japan" award from something-or-other and youll know it by the large queues outside.

Theres a couple of nice ones in the south-east end of Ikebukuro (come out the east-seibu-exit, hang a right and theyre 1 min oast the starbucks) - the gyoza are especially good in one of em.

Theres also a very good ramen shop in Ebisu (near ebisu garden place) although ive never been: i hear their specialty is cheese-ramen

Nissin's Spicy Seaood Cup Noodle Raman is incredibly addictive, i once ate 5 of them in 1 day. Sometimes, if im very bored, i add thai fish sauce and chilli flakes.

That would be tsukumo ramen (a.k.a. 99 ramen), which I already mentioned above. And it's not near Ebisu Garden Place, but rather Ebisu Prime Square.
