where would you like to live in Japan?

Hopefully within a year (converting a house in rondon is soooo slooow)

I`ll be back in Sapporo, a place I grew to like a lot..

But given the choice I`d move to Izu simply due to the loving description Alan gave of it..

If you could move somewhere else in Japan where would it be and why?

Izu is a nice place especially if you like to surf. The get some big, clean waves there. The water is clean too, you don't come out smelling like some chemical or detergent like the beaches around Shonan.
The warmer S. Pacific current meets the colder N. Pacific close to Izu which helps keep it clean and catch some northern swells in the winter.

Good fishing if you are into that. They have lobster around there but is illegal to catch.
Weekends in the summer would suck, lots of people from Kanto and the rods are hard to get around on.
I don't know about finding a job around there. I met 2 guys from Australia who were teaching English in the area but that was a few years ago.

The big question is not where you would like to live but where can you find work in the best setting possible. Of course if you are financially independent...

If I have to go to Tokyo regularly for work, then the Kamakura area (one of the spots on the Enoden line like inamuragasaki or shichirigahama) would be my first choice. If I don't have to go to Tokyo then Izu would be my choice too. That or just send my ass out to Niijima and forget me!

(I choose my locations by quality of surf and water as well)

"Pooping Pines Nudest Camp" Eagle River, Wisconsin is the best part of Japan I could think of right now at 2:13am and the concrete "mansion" is still cooking above 90F.

am wondering now.... house or "mansion"..

had hell dealing with estate agents, finally found one good manager then he gets scouted and ups for tokyo..

am looking to buy outright (rather handy inheritance) but not really sure, course the space of a house would be great, but am not sure about the tax situation etc, and from what I read, after 30 years, the house itself is worthless, I would only be able to sell the land..

is this true? and if so, what about mansions?

anyone have any experience buying/selling property in Japan?
