because it's:

" An often walled quarter on the internet to which Gaijin are restricted"

taken from:
" An often walled quarter in a European city to which Jews were restricted beginning in the Middle Ages."

I think it's just good use of alliteration:

as in Gaijin and Ghetto.

'as a sort of ring to it.

My Japanese dictionary tells me for ghetto
1) hist. (What they had in Europe everywhere)Jewish(having entered under pressure) living district; (in smaller towns)Jewish peoples streets

2)slum street of a minority race (In the United States the black or puertorican peoples streets; cf. Harlem)

Ghetto is a place where you are allowed to have a different opinion. But it has rules. Nobody replied on my pose on the berlin wall cake! I still take that personal! what a ghetto! You are allowed to enter a ghetto if you are a minority- female, poor, foreigner, outlaw, stranger, non conservative, gentile and having set up those rules for myself I swear I have incredibly good chances to enter all ghettos around the world.
