I'll be coming to visit JP for the first time ever Sept 16th - 26th. I don't know anyone from there really, and was planning to stay in capsule and love hotels. If anyone is willing to rent out some room or show me around i'd greatly appreciate and would repay you with beer or dollars

You may want to rethink your accomodation plans. Capseru and love hotels should be on your "weird things to do during my first trip to Japan" list, but I wouldn't want to stay at them for 10 days. Maybe one night in each if you want to say you did it, but unless you've got money to burn I'd suggest alternative places to stay.

If you don't have a friend to crash with I recommend the Taito Ryokan in Asakusa. Only 3,000 yen a night, but you'll probably be sharing a room. It's a hostel-style inn on the Ginza line (Tawaramachi station), and it can serve as a decent base from which to get out and see the city.

Of course, if you're not staying in Tokyo, that bit of info won't help you much...

You need a plan for real. You can't just fly into Narita and walk into a motel. For one thing the language problem is intense. The fabled capsule motel might work but first you have to find one. Imagine, if you will, trying to find a specific place in NYC on foot. The Tokyo subway system is really, really difficult to use, there are so many lines, different types of trains, etc. Despite what you may have heard it's difficult to find a random Japanese person who speaks english.

My advice is book a motel room online, get specific directions to the motel from Narita and spend the first day trying to find a better, cheaper, place. You are going to be a total wreck after flying and waiting for 20-30 hours so I'd suggest the first night at the narita holiday inn http://www.holidayinn.tokyo.ichotelsgroup.com/

Last time I was there I paid about US $75

I'm sure other people will have better suggestions. I don't like Tokyo so I'm biased.

1. If you mean while you're out and about the town, yes. If you book your room for 10 days, the space you get is yours for the whole time. Just leave your bags next to your futon and they'll be fine.

2. They attract the usual hostel crowd. There were people from all over when I stayed there last year. Aussies, Americans, Canadians, Kiwis, Germans... Most of the guests I talked to (there's a small common room where some people would hang in the evening and share ideas about where to go and what to see) were in their 20's, but there was a couple in their 40s staying there as well.

3. Yes. The owner of the place, Kenichi, speaks great English and is very helpful.

Has anyone tried out the housing with J&F Plaza?

The weekly rates look reasonable, plus it seems to be gaijin-friendly.

Looks interesting. So you have to buy a whole month but it's only around $500. $500 bucks for 2 weeks lodging in the most expensive city in the world, that sounds almost too good to be true. my average business trip in America runs me about $400 for 6 nights at a Comfort Inn or Hampton.

I wonder if there is a futon included or if there are hidden charges.

After looking at the site more, there are some weekly and bi-weekly rates I guess it depends on the location.
