Uh Oh....

Let's play the wonderful game "Good news, Bad news"!

Let's start off with the good news.

To begin with, I've been enjoying my time in Japan so incredibly much that I have decided to stay. For how long? Another 5 months (as long as my working-holiday visa permits me to stay!). Now after that (or who knows, during that) I will be applying for a full work-visa. I don't know just what the odds of me getting one are, but oh well, I'll give it my darndest shot.

So there's the good news.

Now onto the.. umm.. not so good .... news.

I went today to renew my working-holiday visa. Good. I also went today to pick up a re-entry permit since I'm going back to Canada for a visit during Christmas time (anyone need anything?). Now that's fine and dandy, however let's go over a few facts...

-I leave December 15 & arrive back on Jan 10.
-My working-holiday expires on an 7th
-Anytime you pick up a re-entry permit, it too expires when your visa expires..

HENCE if I pick up a re-entry permit right now, it will EXPIRE COMPLETELY before I even get back into the flippin country! So here is where I am asking you lovely folks from your past experience. As I mentioned, I am leaving on the 15th of December, unfortunatly I can't change my flight date (damnit!). What are the odds of the Japense government officials being speedy with things and actually having sent out my new visa/renewal?

Help?

My fastest speed with Yokohama Immigration was 13 days; my average has been 4 weeks for them to process my application. The FG "cstaylor" says he's got things done in one week with Yokohama Immigration.

OK, I went out to Shin Yuri Gaoka.

Without the permit and such, will I have to land here as a 'visitor'?
