Yes, the internet is truly global. My company used to get a lot of faxes from scammers like this. I see now that they have become more technologicaly advanced and are using email.

It was always sounds familiar, they must have a template for this.

"Company A. has made some great business deals (usually something that sounds legitimate, like money or land speculation) and has made millions of $$. For some reason (usually govt. regulations) they cannot move the money out of Nigeria. For assisting them in transfering the money they will give you a 20% commission. But before this can be done they need a mere $15,000 to pay for legal fees and other transfer charges in Nigeria. Please send letter of acceptance and the bank transfer information."

Can`t belive that anyone has fallen for this scheme, but as P.T. Barnum said....
With the current world situation if you did fall prey to this scam you may become front page news as a donor to a Islamic fundamentalist group.

Have to admit they were always fun to read at coffee break time and were good teaching material for the Japanese guys who wanted to learn real English.

A japanese friend of mine got one of these letters and she called me and she sounded really worried because I'm the only one that sends her emails in english. I told her to e-mail me a copy of the message and it was that BS. It told her print it out and take it to the cops

Of course they didnt do anything, except saycall them if she got another one.

I cant believe people fall for stuff like this.

BTW, I just saw on the news a company in Toronto was being investigated for credit card fraud. They would contact people and offer them credit cards. No cards were ever delievered. They told people if they paid a $200 deposit they could get a major card. This company had contacted me, and I asked them to send me a brochure. They never did of course.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

I used to get those Nigerian emails all the time at my .co.jp email address. I guess they assumed I was a buisness owner.. the first one I recieved had my deviant brain going into overdrive untill I did a search on internet scams and found entire websites dedicated to these Nigerian email cons. But I have to give it to them, they come up with some very clever ideas. I was feeling guilty just thinking about the proposal they gave me and they were the ones trying to rip me off. lol
