Speeding in Japan vs Australia

The cops in Oz are way more on the ball when it comes to this. On those 60km/h limited J-Superhighways I always did 40 or 50 km/h over the limit and never even got close to being caught in 4 years. Though I new my patch of road very well, I never saw one 'random' speed trap. Here in Oz you can expect to be busted anywhere anytime - silly. Why the hell do they make machines capable of over 200km/h if we cant use it I wish we had some autobahns - stupid cops.

Maths Dude, if you're really keen, there are places in Oz which still allow unlimited speed on public roads. They're just a long way from the cities.

The J-Gov already has. There are cameras everywhere here, and they use point-to-point cameras now as well.

Fines here are also very high. 70,000 to 80,000yen for 40km over plus a 30-day suspension or attendance of a training course. 80km over and the fine can reach 300,000yen with a multi-year license suspension. Get too high and they seize your car and potentially toss you in prison for a year or two.

I know a guy who had his Audi S4 seized, something around 500,000yen in fines, and a 5-year license suspension. He was doing 250km/hr and got caught by a camera... Oops. He was actually *very* lucky to not end up in prison. Very, very lucky.

I'm only guessing, but the way Charles whines about Australia, I get the feeling he may have been mercilessly dumped by a lovely Oz girl, guy or something in-between.

He reminds me of Koreans moaning about Japan...the scratched record playing the same thing over and over and over again. Silly cu... oops, not aloud to say that here are we.
