Sure:

*cough* -- troll -- *cough*
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

I enjoyed my time working at NOVA for the most part.

Then again, I was located in a non major urban office.

Only had 6 classrooms at our school, with about 7 teachers at peak.
I will not abide ignorant intolerance just for the sake of getting along.

The deal with Nova is much the same as the deal with any company spread out over multiple locations over a wide area: It depends.

It depends on your school. It depends on your school's AT. It depends on your school's manager. It depends on your students. It depends on your area. It depends on your AAM. It depends on your AM. And most of all, (as with any job) it depends on YOU.

I worked at Nova for a couple of years part time when I first arrived in Japan. My experience was okay, but I know others who came to despise the company. Why do people have such broadly different experiences? Here's a good example:

- a teacher for some reason or other starts a bf/gf relationship with a student (verboten by Nova and technically a fireable offense)
- the relationship is going well, but the school manager finds out about it.

Now what happens? This is where the "it depends" part comes in.

a) If your relationship with your school manager is good and there are no "issues" from the relationship then likely nothing will happen.

b) If you have a so-so relationship with your school manager, but not particularly bad (or if your school manager is moderately uptight), the manager will probably suggest you request to transfer to a different location. Unless you are in backwoods Japan this is not such a big issue.

c) If you have a really shitty relationship or the manager is incredibly anal with some sort of God complex then the manager will report this to your AAM.

Again, what happens from this point depends on the AAM:

a) If you're a decent teacher and you have a decent working relationship with the AAM this will almost certainly result in a transfer to a different school. Not such a big deal for most teachers.

b) If you have a history of other problems with the company or if your AAM is an anal retentive asshole then this issue will be reported to head office. After it reaches the head office level you will, without exception, be terminated.

So, it depends.

In my experience the people who come to despise Nova fall (broadly speaking) into one of two camps:

1. Bad luck -- they got stuck in a bad school and/or with a shitty AAM.

2. Lack of corporate experience. These people have little experience in the corporate world and would have difficulties with almost any company, especially any large company.

Is Nova the best place in the world to work? No! Are they the worst, or even the worst English school in Japan? No!

They aren't even the worst job I have had in Japan... That would without doubt fall to the Tokyo-based IT outsourcing company that I worked for a few years ago... Bastards ripped me off a couple of hundred thousand yen on my last paycheck.
