Good question since it changed just a few years ago. Up until 1999 there was no age of consent in Japan]http://www.ageofconsent.com/japan.htm[/url]

"Furthermore, the age of consent in Japan is 13 years old under criminal law. Compared to other countries is quite low. But all prefectures have their own respective laws such as, "Youth Protection Law" which prohibit adults from having sex with youths who are under 17 years old. "

When you're 19 and drunk and the girl looks 23, you dont care much.

That happened to me. The first girl I ever pulled from a club (never went to clubs stateside) and she was 16. That meant she couldnt get on the base and I got no nookie that night.

But honestly, some young ladies around Tokyo, dress and talk a hellova lot older than they actually are. It is hard to tell if they arent telling you the truth.

Oh boy, let the judging begin. I'm not the guy asking the original question, but I will say that I'm 35, and if when I was 15, a 35 year old woman had offered to lay with me I would look on that memory now with extreme fondness. I guess you're not as open minded as you think.

That is bollocks and you know it!! Whichever way you slice it it is rape. Sex with children is a completely selfish act on the part of the adult.

Don't try to justify it just so you can sleep at night!!

the media portays all pedophiles as rapists. only the ones who rape children are rapists.

Homosexuality is sex between consenting adults. Again, just because an adult wants to have sex with a child, the child cannot be considered as consenting... it is completely selfish on the part of the adult.

Ergo, if you have sex with a child it IS rape as true informed consent cannot be given.

Rape is also about an inequality of power and the theft of it from another person - the sex act itself is just a symptom. How can a child be in a equal position of power with an adult?

I really never have thought of the age of consent.

If the female looked of age and was willing, that was good enough for me.
I wasnt paying for it, so she was doing it of her own accord, and she was in an adult establishment. Thats legal ass in my book. Sorry to sound crass.

Sex is an art, it takes time to get good at it. The average 16 year old girl isn't having sex for the same reasons a 30 year old women is. I'm not sure 16 year old girls even enjoy sex, I'm almost positive it's about entirely different things for a young girl. And, hard lesson to learn, women, no matter what age, seldom use sex just as physical pleasure, they get different things from sex then men do.

In most cases a 16 year old who want's to have sex with an older guy has issues, there's something really wrong in that girls life. I would rather try and discover what the problem is and encourage her then mess her up even more. Did she get abused? Is her self-worth so low she sees sex as the only way to gain (temporary) respect? Is she longing for fatherly or male affection?

If, if you can find a normal 16 year old girl with no issues who just loves sex go for it, but I think they are completly rare.

Sorry, I don't even have faith in my own ability to guide my life to try and help someone else in that way. Leave that to the professionals. :)

For the most part you have hit the nail on the head. However, there is an increasing number of women who, for whatever reason, are empowered by their own sexuality and enjoy it for its own reward without any ulterior motive.. It is a bit of a double edged sword at times as the majority of both women and men expect a woman's role in the world to be a particular way and there is enoumous pressure to conform.

However there a heap of women of all ages who are still conditioned to be subservient and use sex as a weapon. I know that you have all met women like this before. I think this is quite sad for them as they are their own prisoner and warden combined.

Personally I think of sex as a normal human need/function similar to eating and breathing. To deny yourself really screws a person up (pardon the pun). Queen Victoria (along with medieval religious leaders) had a lot to answer for.. if I met her today I would tell her to chill out and get a vibrator.

That Victorian stuff was a myth... all the prudishness was propaganda for us commoners... the royals (the virgin queen notwithstanding) were prolific lovers... one of HRM's conquests (or was is the other way around?) was Winston Churchill's mother, Jenny. Churchill used his mother's "influence" with various members of polite society to garner himself a military position during the Boer war.

That sounds like a nasty rumor to me... probably circulated around the commonwealth nations after her death. ;)

One of her short quotes that greatly affected Churchill's views towards the commonwealth (especially countries like India) was "We should not give up what we already hold". This led to a showdown between Churchill and Ghandi in the public sphere, and Churchill lost, sending him into the political wilderness. Had Churchill held his tongue on the matter, the odds of his appointment to 10 Downing Street instead of Chamberlain are better... although still a long shot, since he had already turned on the Tory party at the turn of century, so they'd probably would have chosen Chamberlain anyways.

CS - do you just spend all of your free time reading war histories?

I think you know even more than my father who was in the millitary for 25 years and studied on the subject as well.

I am impressed!!

Finding the right books is important. I stumbled across William Manchester's biographies of Churchill a couple of years ago when I was reading an NY Times article about how he's too infirm to finish the last of the trilogy. I bought the books. and they are a great read if you're into history.

My next goal is to read more about early Republican France... any suggestions?
