Why we love Japan

Postby Oradea » Thu Feb 15, 2007 6:41 pm

I was getting sick of reading all this crap on here about why Japan sucks.

We all live here, and we all live here for a reason. Lets take time out to talk about the things we LIKE about Japan. No point being negative all the time.

Ive only been here 7 years, starting my eighth.

Here is some random guff I like about it here

I can smoke wherever the hell I want.
I get more space to sit down on the trains.
The said transport works and is on time.
The weather is dependable.
Nobody stops me in the street looking for spare change for their McDonalds cup.
What you see is not necessarily what you get.
I am free to integrate as much or as little with society as I want.

ASAHI SUPER DRY, from a vending machine outside my Apartment.

I do whatever I want whenever I want.

No pressure to conform to society.....

Love Japan.

You are not gonna get much support here for anything positive about Japan. This forum is for Japan bashing only. There are two posts following yours and it's already negative.

If I was government of Japan I would kick every fucking non-grateful gaijin out of the country.

Here are the things why I like Japan:

It's hygienic, hotels are clean, restaurants are clean...
Great public trabsportation system.
Polite people and generally honest.
I'll exchange the body odour of the crowded trains in Tokyo anyday with the stench of the subway in Toronto.
Banknotes are always clean and straight.
People are fashion-oriented.
Gifts are always valuable (not cheap like it is here).
People cry after a concert.

And I could go on but I know people are already lining up to shoot down everything I wrote here so flame away...

I just thought it was cute that some people cry after a concert and when the singer is thanking the audience. Actually what I saw was more than just "some" people. It was "many". I'm talking about a Hamasaki Ayumi concert and I must qualify that by saying that I have not been to any other concerts.

LOL!:p I'm not a fan of J-Pop either!

Quote from Oradea: "I was getting sick of reading all this crap on here about why Japan sucks..."

But if the posters talked about how much they liked Japan, this wouldn't be "Fucked Gaijin" would it? That's part of the charm of this place.
I lived in Japan and was stationed there twice. It's interesting for me to read all the posts about life in Japan and it brings back alot of good memories for me. Yes I had some bad times but time has a way of making you forget those.
My recommendation to you: Hang out with RobPongi for a while. He seems like one of the more positive posters here!

I like Japan because:

Of great Graphic Design examples
Nice shopping
Nice prices
Clothes that fit me (Clothes-sizes in England are DEFINATELY getting bigger...)
Politeness
Non-confrontational
Trains that run (English trains dont like being trains)
Food
Atmosphere
Being able to practise my Japanese on any poor passer by!
Being different and yet the same
Learning more and more about the culture & language
Experiences

...

What I love about Japan:-

The fact that I can tell the most perverted, kinkiest, dirty sex jokes to the woman here, and they find all of them funny.

BTW, nice picture.

Why I like Japan hmmm

Its easy to buy and drink alcohol anywhere and everywhere.
Bic Camera - combining two of my fav things in one store electronics and alcohol.
My bathroom - its own little room so you can splash about plsu the deep tub.
The tempura restaurant near my station.
The ramen shop thats not near my station.
Someone already said the next two but even cheap hotels are clean, and no one begs for money.

I like the anonymity of every day life.
I like the fact that the class divide isnt as immediately obvious when talking to people as it is back in the west.

1: The psychedelic salary men's road pizza left over from Saturday night.

3: The Takoyaki Family Mart sells made from it.

That's about it:D

Why do we have to state our love

Postby canman » Fri Feb 16, 2007 9:25 pm

This sounds quite childish. How I love Japan, let me count the ways. Most of the posters on this board have been here for a long time, and they have gotten over the infatuation aspect to life in Japan. They and I are just trying to live our lives the best we can. There are a lot of things I really like about Japan, and some things I don't. It just seems that the things I don't like impact my life more than the things I like.
As for you Jack, fuck off, you don't even live here. You commute between Canada and other places. Until you've lived here for a long time, you have no right to say this board is negative and boring.

Whoa Canman-sama, who shit (shat? :-) )in your cereal this morning? Take it easy big boy. Come on... I think GBoothe posted some very persuasive pictures why people like Japan.

Anyway, you seem like a Canuck like me given your gratuitous attack which is typical of every fucking Canadian that I know of, but I digress. Your points are all well-taken but even when things are frustrating there has to be some positives in living in a place like Japan. It's good therapy to talk about the good things once in a while. Try it, it wont hurt you. Surely Japan can't be half as bad as this fucking sad excuse of a country we call Canada.

Yeah because you can't say two positive words about Japan without the thread turning into another Japan-bashing fuckfest. The fact is Japanese people are better people than any English/French/German/Italian/whoever-with-white-skin will ever be.

What I hate about white people:

They are pompous, dirty, inconsiderate, arrogant, think only they are right, if you don't speak flawless English you must be dumb...
