Princess_Ayana wrote:Hello minna san. I'm Ayana, living in Japan for about 2 years now. I'm a haafu (half Jamaican (mom) half Japanese (dad)) but I knew next to nothing about Japanese culture before I came here and my language skills are only at an intermediate level. Love the site, look forward to contributing to the forums.

Innocently armed with a desire to travel this summer I made the dreadful mistake of ending up in Japan. I dunno if you could say Japan because I ended up on a Island in the east china sea that was a hell of alot closer to Taiwan than to the mainland. Called the true last frontier of Japan by the guide books, I'd always thought that was Hokkaido, but no apparently its Iriomote. So upon seeing the Ishigaki thread and people talking about Iriomote, I figured I'd register finally and put in my two cents,or should I say two yen.

FG Lurker wrote:Welcome to the board. Where in Japan are you headed to? What sort of visa? If you will be on a student visa it is important to keep in mind that an autumn start gives you a maximum of 1.5 years but an April start gives you up to 2 years...
Steel_Rain wrote:Well it will be a student visa and i will be headed to Tokyo to attend TUJ. I wont be headed across the pond until August but i don't have a limited time there as i am applying for my visa through the school. As long as I am enrolled, I am allowed to stay in Japan. Thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to keep it in mind.
