Current model is not offered in Mitsubishi Motors Australia lineup (server currently setsudenchu?), only as a grey import (with optional 16 inch wheels :cool2: ), nor in NZ.

Yup, and all the models driving in Oz and Nz are bought through special importers. The markup with transport, registration and conformity certification is around +20k Aus$.

Those guys are used to paying that much, and at the moment, with the blue collar rich*, they can afford it.

So, how does the power supply of an expensive LED look like?

Image

Scenario: I bought many Panasonic LDA4L-H-E17 LED bulbs to replace normal bulbs, but one slipped out of my hands. The bulb broke, leaving me with this:

LEDparts-cleaned.jpg

The base of this light is made of metal. I tried to take out the metal inside from the metal outer tube, but that is impossible.

So, where shall I start to cut?

Looks like I had best start near the fitting, because there is some plastic that is easy to get through.

Any opinions? I will try to cut it open next weekend.

That's what I'd do. Maybe a disk, maybe a small cutting bit, but either way a mini router would be my tool of choice for that ... Unless it turned out to be really hard steel (it won't be) in which case I'd probably grab the angle grinder.

So yeah, Russell ... You done yet? I'm really interested to see what you find.

Took the family out today, so not done yet. Will have to wait for the coming weekend.

I found a 99-piece set of grinding/cutting bits for a dremel somewhere in my cupboard. The disks you refer to are the ones with a few centimeter diameter, isn't it?

I also found a cheap 単3 battery-operated dremel-like thingy of Tamiya, but not sure whether that has enough power. I may try my new angle drill. It's kind of heavy, but since my hand is much closer to the work piece than for a normal drill I have better control.

I do have an angle grinder too, but that is a 180 mm type: much too heavy for this type of application... :)
